ILOILO City – Two men separately face charges for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.
One was arrested on Feb. 20 and the other on Feb. 18.
The one arrested on Sunday was 39-year-old Nestor Anorico of Barangay Lincud, Dingle. He was caught in Barangay Poblacion, Dingle.
At around 3 a.m., cops recovered from Anorico a .20 gauge shotgun. He was taken to the Dingle police station.
According to customers of a bakeshop who alerted the police, Anorico entered carrying a gun.
The suspect faces charges for violation of the Comelec gun ban and illegal possessions of firearm.
The one arrested on Feb. 18 was 30-year-old Nico Dingcong of Barangay Kasing-Kasing, Molo, Iloilo City.
He was taken to the Molo police station after his arrest at around 9:30 p.m.
The cops actually responded to a reported theft incident; the suspect was Dingcong.
Dingcong tried to flee but he was caught.
He yielded a .38 revolver.
The gun ban started on Jan. 9 in line with the May 9, 2022 elections./PN
