ANTIQUE – As of Feb. 20, more than 24,000 individuals in the province of Antique receives the booster shot.
Based on the data of the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO), there are 24,622 individuals receives booster shot. Most of these are healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with co-morbidities.
Here is the breakdown of 24,622 individuals recieves booster shot per town: Anini-y (1,529), Barbaza (326), Belison (524), Bugasong (649), Caluya (758), Culasi (1,955), Hamtic (1,125), Laua-an (843), Libertad (820), Pandan (2,622), Patnongon (356), San Jose (6,034 ), San Remigio (451), Sebaste (1,822), Sibalom (1,185), Tibiao (610), Tobias Fornier (2,439), and Valderrama (575).
The APHO expected a more number of booster-vaccinated individuals due to the short period in qualifying for a booster shot. The Department of Health (DOH) advises that an individual can have its booster shot after three months after being vaccinated of the last dose, meaning a person who received the last dose will not wait the six months to be vaccinated for a booster shot.
APHO explained that vaccinating with a booster shot will add more protection against the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
Based on data of APHO last Feb. 20, there are 281,475 individuals, or 65 percent of 432,452 target population of Antique is fully vaccinated.
