Kabankalan City employee dies inside Binalbagan pension house

BACOLOD City — A 57-year-old employee of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, was found unresponsive inside a pension house in Barangay Santo Rosario, Binalbagan, on September 8.

The victim, identified by police as alias “Ely,” was a married resident of Barangay 1, Kabankalan City.

Initial investigation by the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station showed that the victim entered Villa Santa Maria pension house at around 11:45 a.m. and proceeded to a room.

At about 12:05 p.m., a woman entered the establishment and went to the same room where the victim was staying, police said.

Around five to 10 minutes later, the victim suddenly collapsed on the floor.

A pension house employee sought assistance, prompting personnel of the Binalbagan LDRRMO to respond to the scene.

The rescuers administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before bringing the victim to the Binalbagan Infirmary, according to police.

However, the victim was declared dead on arrival by the municipal health officer, who initially determined cardiac arrest as the cause of death.

Police said the victim had a history of heart problems.

His family reportedly declined a post-mortem examination, believing that his death was related to his existing medical condition.

Police are continuing to document the circumstances surrounding the incident./PN
