Kalibo disc jockey arrested for selling ‘hot gun’

KALIBO, Aklan – A 50-year old part-time disc jockey, who allegedly sold a firearm in an entrapment operation, ended up behind bars in Kalibo, Aklan.

Jesse Luciano Rimon, resident of Mercedes Village in Barangay New Buswang, Kalibo was nabbed after a police poseur buyer was able to purchase from him an STI Edge .45 caliber pistol with chrome finish for P20,000 buy-bust money.

The suspect failed to show pertinent documents of the firearm when operatives of Kalibo municipal station apprehended him at around 2:55 p.m. on February 25, 2022, in Sitio Baybay, Barangay Andagaw.

Police said they also seized an empty magazine of a .45 caliber pistol, a black holster, cellular phone, and five live ammunition of .45 caliberpistol.

“I’m selling it, as well as my motor and car since I’m back in the US. I bought the gun in Cebu, I’m not a bad person,” Rimon said after his arrest.

Rimon will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 also known as Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2012 concerning Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 10728.

The recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Provincial Forensic Unit in Aklan Police Provincial Office for ballistic examination.

Following the buy-bust operation, Kalibo Police Chief Major Jasson Belcina has urged the public to be vigilant and report to the authorities any illegal activities in their communities./PN
