PAVIA, Iloilo – Lady Pythons and Maddyline completed the semifinals of the women’s division of the Gametime Invitational Volleyball League being held at the Pavia Multi-Purpose Gym here.
The Lady Pythons clinched the top-seed in Group A with 3-1 win-loss slate following a 25-18, 28-26 domination over J.Blazers and 25-15, 25-10 sweep of Arangka Pavia.
Team Maddyline, on the other hand, finished at second in the group also with 3-1 record following a 25-22, 19-25, 25-16 defeat at the hands of J.Blazers.
J.Blazers actually also finished their Group A assignment with 3-1 win-loss slate but was bumped off the crossover semifinals picture due to quotient.
Lady Pythons will battle Group B no.2 seed team Unicorns in the semifinals on March 20, while Maddyline is set to tangle with AC in the other Final Four pairing.
In the men’s division, Unitas moved on to the semis as the No.1 team in Group A with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating San Miguel (25-14, 17-25, 25-20) and Dumangas (25-20, 28-26).
San Miguel also advanced to the semis as the No.2 ranked squad in Group A with its 3-1 record despite suffering their lone defeat to the Team Unitas.
In Group B, IDC Alumni, Pythons and VPH all ended up with the same 3-1 win-loss record but it was the first two teams which entered the crossover semis due to quotient.
The men’s division semifinals pairing on the morning of March 20 will be between Dumangas and Pythons followed by IDC Alumni against San Miguel.
Following the semifinals, the battle for third place as well as the championship match in the men’s and women’s division will also be held in the afternoon of March 20, according to Gametime founder Rodolfo Go Villaruz./PN
