APHO: Beware of high blood pressure

ANTIQUE – The Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) is now advising residents to take precautions against high blood pressure or hypertension.

To ensure that everyone are free from hypertension, the APHO advice general public to visit the nearest Rural Health Unit (RHU) to check their blood pressure and if diagnosed with hypertension the RHU will also give free maintenance to regulate their blood pressure.

“We urge our people to go to the center (RHU) and consult. The consultation is free and if you are suddenly diagnosed with hypertension don’t worry, the maintenance medication that is offered to you every month is free,”part of the APHO’s advice to the residents.

Based on APHO data, there is increased number of Antiqueños suffering from high blood pressure.

Last 2019, APHO listed 5,239 cases, last 2020 – 10,833 cases and last 2021- 19,302.

“It just shows that every year, the data on people with hypertension is increasing,” added the APHO.

It is known from the APHO that hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the leading causes of illness and death of people not only in the province of Antique but also around the world.

This is the reason why the APHO encourages people to consult the RHU to check if they are suffering from high blood pressure especially if they often feel dizzy.

“These cases are due to the person who consulted our health facilities in the Province. But it is still hard for our countrymen to have no consultants. We just tolerate headaches and nausea and just ignore the drinking sensation,”added APHO./PN
