What went down, Part 1

THIS BEARS repeating: I am not an angry person.

I do not have a personal agenda in politics.

But I feel that as a significant voice in Philippine and Ilonggo literature, culture, and the arts—

And, in fact, to be worthy of the honors bestowed upon me; and to give back to the Filipino people who have supported me through the years—

I need to translate into words the general sentiments of my people; and to enlighten those who have been in the confused darkness caused by massive disinformation.

In fact, I feel that it is my duty as a patriotic artist and writer to shine light upon our political chaos.

***

To be honest, I have a very exciting life outside of politics, and of political opinion-making.

I was just in Cancun two weeks ago.

And as you read this, I could be exploring the fjords and glaciers of Iceland.

I am writing this mini-series, of course, on the day before my flight to Reykjavik.

I mean, who wants to spend their days in Iceland writing pieces for a newspaper column?

***

Seriously, I have so many stories to tell you about my travels.

But also feel that I should not let go of politics and politicking at this point, just a little over 30 days before the crucial national elections.

I feel that we can never go back to this time again.

And I would regret not doing enough when history and my country need it most.

***

I do not kid myself that my opinion is what the country really wants, or likes to hear.

But if I feel that the country needs it, I will give it.

Never mind that it is unwanted, unsolicited, or even ignored.

If I say my piece, I would have peace with myself.

I can sleep the sleep of the innocent every night.

And if things go wrong, I can’t always say later, “I told you so!”

***

So, let me be clear: I do not want a Marcos Jr presidency.

And I hate that Pacquiao is even in the race.

I mean, that’s my idea of a nuisance candidate.

Note Section 69 of the Omnibus Election Code—

A nuisance candidate is someone who filed a candidacy with the intention of (1.) “putting the election process in mockery or disrepute.”

I mean, if Pacquiao can, why can’t you?

I’m pretty sure that if you are reading my columns, you are much smarter than Pacquiao.

***

And smartness and intelligence are necessary virtues of a president.

Unless, of course, you are a fan of fake diplomas, fake credentials, and false claims of graduating from Harvard.

***

If you have no smarts and brains to face your opponent in a presidential debate, who are you?

Are you going to win this election by cheating, and by your well-oiled machinery funded by stolen money?

Are you just buying everybody with your ill-gotten wealth, and money you stole from the Filipino people?

***

I see Leni Robredo as the only logical choice for president in this May 2022 elections.

And let me reduce that idea to Leni versus LBM.

Lugaw versus Tae.

Good versus Evil.

And may your soul rot in hell if you stand in the wrong side of history.

May your life grow even more miserable if you choose a lying thief over an honest woman.

***

This series could very well be “In the immortal words of ThePSN, Part 7.”

But I’ve taken a Cancun break before writing this so I feel justified giving this one a new title.

Part 7 sounds so lazy.

Again, I’m publishing what went down on my social media feeds not because I’m lazy, but because they’re “deliciously wicked,” and I may never be able say these things again.

***

Timing is everything in politics and politicking.

And we are so close to the elections.

Those I could not reach by my soc med accounts, I may perhaps reach by my newspaper column.

Just trying to leave no stone unturned.

So, here we go again.

“I don’t care how ugly you are.

If you are an LBM, you are sh*t to me.

Now, that’s not a FACT, but a proper OPINION to which I’m entitled!” —#ThePSN

While sporting a Pink shirt in a Cancun resort—

Tamang Pink lang everyday.

Walang masyadong Pinoy sa pinuntahan ko sa Cancun.

Most people recognized Pacman, but they laughed at the idea that he’s even running for President.

You can quote me on that! Haha” —#ThePSN

Where is the toxicity coming from?

Read the other installments of this piece during the week. (To be continued)/PN
