ILOILO City – A job hire and a former traffic enforcer of the city government were arrested in a buy-bust operation of the police in Barangay Caingin, La Paz district.
Reydan Eribal, 38, was a resident of Barangay Caingin while Jerson Sonon, 38, was from Barangay Buntatala, Jaro district. Both were taken to the La Paz police station.
Eribal formerly worked as traffic enforcer in the city government.
Sonon, on the other hand, is an active member of the city’s Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the buy-bust operation was carried out at around 6:40 p.m. on April 26.
An undercover police officer bought from the suspects a sachet of suspected shabu for P7,000.
Five more sachets were recovered.
All the recoveries were valued at P68,000.
Eribal and Sonon were placed under surveillance for over a month prior to the buy-bust.
“A concern employee of the city hall informed us about them,” said Darroca.
