KALIBO, Aklan – A drug suspect released in a plea bargaining agreement was again caught here in a buy-bust operation on May 11.
The 54-year-old Joel Merin Tan was a musician and resident of Barangay Pook.
The buy-bust, carried out around 12:25 p.m., resulted to the recovery of a sachet of suspected shabu valued at P2,000.
Tan denied selling shabu to an undercover policeman.
The suspect was arrested in 2016 and charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The buy-bust operation last week was conducted by the Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Kalibo municipal police station.
Search Warrant EJ-03-22 was also implemented at around 1:30 p.m. at the occupied house of the suspect in Barangay Pook.
Police recovered a sling bag, digital weighing scale, two disposable lighters, a pack of transport plastic sachet, four pieces of rolled aluminum foil and 11 elongated and medium heat sealed transparent sachets of suspected shabu.
The recovered items were brought to the Regional Forensic Unit of the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo City while Tan was formally charged with violationsof RA 9165./PN
