BACOLOD City – Four persons drowned. They were swept away by strong water current while taking a swim at the Kabilang-bilangan reef, part of Barangay Sicaba in Cadiz City, Sunday afternoon.
Authorities identified the fatalities as 31-year-old Rememar Ocon; 33-year-old Marlyn Aguire; 13-year-old Michael Jhon Merabe; and 13-year-old Mark John Aguire.
According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sub-station in Cadiz City as well as the Cadiz City police station, the drowning took place at around 1 p.m. The four victims along with 12 others came to the reef for a swimming excursion.
The victims were swept away by the sea current when the tide rose at around 2 p.m.
According to yesterday’s tide forecast, the water’s height was estimated to be at around 1.3 meters.
