MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings scored back-to-back wins in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup via a 111-90 rout of Terrafirma Dyip last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Justin Brownlee spearheaded the Kings with triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, while Christian Standhardinger was a near perfect from the field with 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting.
Japeth Aguilar contributed 13 markers, while Earl Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo and Jeremiah Gray had 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Gin Kings moved up to 4-2 win-loss slate.
From a 14-all score midway in the opening quarter, the Gin Kings created separation from the Dyip following a triple by Stanley Pringle and inside hits by Standhardinger for a 27-19 score.
Standhardinger continued his inside dominance in the second quarter as Ginebra pulled away further to 61-39 at the half, which later grew to as high a 30 points in the fourth quarter.
Eric James Camson led the way with 21 points, while Joshua Munzon and Juan Miguel Tiongso added 16 markers apiece as the Dyip dropped to 0-7.
In the first game, Converge FiberXers leaned on a frenetic start before holding off TNT Tropang Giga, 130-117. The FiberXers improved to 4-2, while the Tropang Giga dropped to 3-3.
From a seesaw battle early in the opening quarter, the FiberXers created separation from the Tropang Giga behind three-pointers by Quincy Miller and Regile Ilagan for a 43-24 advantage.
The lead continued to grow for the FiberXers in the next two quarters courtesy of offense by Miller, Jeron Teng and Aljun Melecio as it reached as high as 35 points at 91-56 via a triple by Miller.
Miller drilled nine triples for 38 points to go with 20 rebounds, Teng and Melecio chipped in 22 and 20 points, respectively, while Justin Arana and Michael Digregorio ended with 14 and 13 for Converge.
