BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), in cooperation with the San Carlos City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), seized a few contraband items during a “greyhound operation” or shakedown at the San Carlos City District Jail Friday last week.
Jail Chief Inspector Felix Sariana, city district jail warden, said among the items recovered were metal headbands, empty cans and an improvised tong, all of which were prohibited inside the jail facility.
According to Sariana, 398 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), including 41 women, were escorted out to an open space within the jail facility at around 5 a.m. on Friday.
PDEA also performed a random drug test on 88 PDLs and 33 BJMP personnel. All of them tested negative for drug use./PN
