ROXAS City – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 6 turned over disaster response aid to the local government of Roxas City yesterday, Feb. 27.

Regional Director Jose Roberto Nuñez handed over rolls of sakolines which could be used as temporary shelters during emergencie.

“Nagapasalamat ako kay OCD-6 regional director Jose Roberto Bobby Nuñez sa pagpadala sang bulig para sa aton disaster response. Magapadala pa gid sila sang dugang nga bulig sa masunod nga inadlaw nga ginlakipan sang family kits, hygiene kits, shelter tool kits kag iban pa,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

Over the weekend, four barangays were inundated. A creek overflowed following heavy rains, displacing 173 families.

During the flooding, 25 families composed of 101 individuals were saved by the city’s rescue teams headed by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The city government sent relief packs to the affected families.

It would also coordinate with the Department of Agriculture Region 6 for assistance after several hectares of farm crops were damaged by flooding./PN
