BACOLOD City – A member of a civilian volunteer organization was hospitalized following an accidental gun discharge in Hacienda Vista 1, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.
The 46-year-old Joel Leomillo was cleaning his .45 pistol when it went off. Because he was pointing his gun to the floor, the bullet ricocheted and hit him in the chest.
Talisay City police chief Lieutenant Abegael Donasco said Leomillo was immediately rushed to the hospital.
As of this writing Leomillo was already in stable condition.
Donasco said the gun was turned over to the Firearms and Explosives Unit of the Police Regional Office 6 to determine if it wais licensed./PN
