ILOILO City – Western Visayas is now a low-risk area for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, based on the latest COVID-19 Health Bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6.
As of March 9, the region logged 1,379 active COVID-19 cases.
Here is the breakdown of cases:
* Iloilo province – 1,001
* Negros Occidental – 267
* Iloilo City – 73
* Bacolod City – 18
* Aklan – 12
* Antique – five
* Capiz – three
The island province of Guimaras has no active case.
As to the average cases per day, from 106 cases in October 2022, 99 cases in November, 45 cases in December, and 19 cases in January this year, it went down to only seven in February and remained at seven as of March 6.
Moreover, the healthcare utilization rate in the region is generally at low risk.
Data showed that of the 1,769 total isolation/COVID ward beds, 77 percent are still available. The region recorded 204,570 cumulative cases of COVID-19 since 2020. Of these, 196,454 have recovered while 6,566 have died.
On the other hand, 11,169,838 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to Western Visayas residents.
Of the 5,655,383 target population, 5,334,341 or 94.32 percent have been fully vaccinated; 991,141 or 17.53 percent received booster shots; and 108,732 or 1.92 percent got second booster shots./PN
