AKLAN – A canter truck collided with a van along the Diversion Road in Barangay Tabayon, Banga town around 2 a.m. yesterday, May 10.
The impact killed truck passenger Joshua Merin, of Barangay Guinbaliwan, New Washington town.
The truck, driven by Arnel Nalangan, 46, of Barangay Pampango, Libacao town, was going in the same direction as the van driven by Joemar Tenorio, 33, of Barangay Monlaque, Ibajay town, according to Patrolman Mark Gregor Panes of the Banga PNP.
Both vehicles were from Iloilo City going to Kalibo town when the van suddenly took a turn, causing the truck following it to hit the van’s rear.
Merin was trapped in the truck’s passenger seat.
Medical teams of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection rushed Merin to the provincial hospital but the victim was declared “dead-on-arrival”.
Nalangan is currently in the custody of the Banga PNP./PN
