ILOILO City – The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) has tightened security and safety measures, especially in Boracay Island, as the “ber” months reel in.
APPO director Colonel Victorino Romanillos alerted the personnel of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC) assigned in strategic areas, foot and mobile patrols, auxiliary police and force multipliers.
“We have to maintain peace and order, especially in Boracay, because we are now approaching the holiday season. We have to increase our personnel sa mga dalanon to secure local and foreign tourists,” Romanillos told Panay News.
Romanillos further said there is close coordination with other government forces to boost efforts against illegal drugs and petty crimes.
“Since nadugangan aton international flights, we also need more police sa airports,” he added, referring to the Kalibo International Airport in Kalibo, Aklan and the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Boracay Airport) in Caticlan, the jump-off point to Boracay.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard is also on alert to ensure the seaworthiness of pump boats and roll-on roll-off vessels in Caticlan and Cagban ports./PN
