ILOILO City – The city government plans to file charges against Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 6 director Nora Patron and officials of the Iloilo City Government Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (ICGEMPC) in connection with the financial problems of the cooperative.
Mayor Jerry Treñas cited Patron’s inaction.
ICGEMPC has been suffering from financial losses attributable to questionable loan transactions which to date amount to more than P31 million, and the dissipation of the capital share of its members, said Treñas.
He thus wondered why the CDA-6 issued a Certificate of Good Financial Standing to the cooperative.
Patron could not be reached for comment as of this writing.
“Ginapatun-an ko kay ti kon waay nag-issue sang certificate (to the ICGEMPC), waay nakahulam sa bangko (Land Bank of the Philippines),” Treñas added.
The city mayor confirmed that Patron was at his office when the executive order declaring her a “persona non-grata” in this city was released on Sept. 28.
In Executive Order No. 129, Treñas pointed out that the CDA-6 ignored pleas for help from the city government and members of the ICGEMPC.
The city mayor is also planning to ask the CDA central office to remove Patron from Western Visyas.
Since June this year the city government and cooperative members have been requesting for a consultative meeting with CDA-6 but these went unanswered, according to Treñas.
