ILOILO – A 27-year-old construction worker was fatally shot just after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, in Sitio Banglid, Balabag, Pavia.
The victim, Jeryl “Bokbok” Pedregosa from the barangay, sustained gunshot wounds to his head, face, and leg. He was shot while purchasing cigarettes from a nearby store.
The suspected shooter, 41-year-old Jomar Sale, is a mechanic and also a resident of the same barangay. He is currently in custody at the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Sale will be facing charges of murder and violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Arnel Escriba of the Pavia MPS, the two reportedly had a longstanding dispute.
Escriba also mentioned that Pedregosa allegedly bullied Sale’s minor child.
The Pavia MPS has retrieved a .45 caliber pistol believed to be the weapon used by Sale./PN
