ILOILO City – This city is hosting an international sports event dubbed “Iloilo City of Love International Marathon” this Sunday, Dec. 3.
The race, which will kick off at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, consists of four categories: five, ten, 21, and 42 kilometers. Each participant who can complete the marathon will receive a finisher’s medal with varying sizes depending on the category.
Each distance has a respective gun start and is as follows:
* five-kilometer race – 5 a.m.
* ten-kilometer race – 4:30 a.m.
* 21-kilometer race – 3:30 a.m.
* 42-kilometer race – 12 a.m.
The event is in partnership with Mayor Jerry Treñas, City Councilor Johnny Young, Congresswoman Ms. Julienne “Jam-jam” Baronda, and the Iloilo City Sports Development Division, organized by Ultramarathon Sports Events and Prince Multisports Events.
The city mayor commended the organizers and said he was proud that the city would be hosting the said event.
“I commend the organizers of the Iloilo City of Love International Marathon. We are very proud to host this first international sports event as a testament that our city is concerned with the health and well-being of its people. We are very supportive of this endeavor, and we give our full support to ensure its success.
