ILOILO City – Law enforcement authorities of this city have seized more or less 310 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around P2.1 million.
The antidrug buy-bust operation, conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 in coordination with the Iloilo City Police Station 2, took place at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, in Barangay Rizal, Lapuz district.
Suspects alias “Papz,” a 35-year-old male, and alias “Biboy,” a 47-year-old male, were apprehended following the sale of three sachets of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer.
“Papz” was categorized as a high-value individual who reportedly served prison time for a murder charge in 2010 and was freed in 2015, while “Biboy” was tagged as a street-level individual.
Police monitoring of the suspects went on for a month, during which it was learned that their scope of illegal drug operations covered the entire city and some parts of Iloilo province, Captain Ryan Christ Inot said in a K5 News FM Iloilo interview.
Upon their arrest, law enforcers seized additional sachets of the illicit substance, cash believed to be proceeds from their illegal activities, a digital weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, and other non-drug items.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are set to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
To recall, two separate police operations in this city’s districts of La Paz and Mandurriao resulted in the seizure of an estimated P2.6 million of suspected shabu and unlicensed firearms on Tuesday, April 9./PN
