BACOLOD City – The city government will begin today the implementation of its “Bayad Agad” program.
The program is particularly designed for when the city government provides immediate cash assistance to individuals in crisis situations.
“Sugod bwas [April 22], ang tanan nga nagapangayo [financial] assistance sa syudad on the same day mahatagan sang assistance sa natawag nga “Bayad Agad,” said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on his radio program “Isugid kay Mayor” yesterday.
The city mayor initiated the program to fast-track the doling out of financial assistance to every Bacolodnon.
The city government’s Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) is in charge of the distribution of the assistance, and the very same office is designated to facilitate and accommodate the recipients.
Alma Gustilo, DSSD head, said the amount of assistance would be determined through the social workers’ assessment and evaluation report.
“The minimum assistance to be given is P3,500 and the maximum is P10,000. The coverage will be burial, medical, fire, and calamity,” added Gustilo.
Earlier, Benitez said that he created this kind of program after learning that some of the recipients have yet to receive their financial assistance due to paperwork, among other reasons.
“Ini ang bureaucracy amo ni gapadugay sang assistance nga ang kwarta ara lang man na dira. Ngaa maglab-ot sa ila damo sang proseso nga agyan, damo bureaucratic red tape nga kinanglan nga kadtoan para makuha lang sang assistance,” the city mayor said./PN
