AKLAN – A motorcycle driver was pronounced dead after a collision with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Barangay Tabangka, Numancia town, at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
The deceased was identified as Ian Ubane, a resident of Barangay Pudiot, Tangalan town.
The SUV was driven by 69-year-old Eric Arevalo who resides in Cainta, Rizal and is currently vacationing in Barangay Oyotorong, Kalibo.
According to the Numancia police, Ubane was traveling towards Makato town when his motorcycle collided with Arevalo’s vehicle, which was making a turn at the time.
The impact was severe enough to flatten the left side of the SUV’s bumper and shatter its front windshield.
Ubane’s motorcycle was extensively damaged, with parts scattered across the road.
Responding officers found Ubane unconscious and bleeding underneath the SUV. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Arevalo has been taken into custody by the Numancia police pending further investigation.
Meanwhile, Ubane’s family has expressed their intention to file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against Arevalo./PN
