ILOILO City – A 41-year-old man implicated in a series of shooting incidents was arrested in Barangay Dolores, Dumalag, Capiz.
On Tuesday at approximately 12:45 p.m., alias “Ikol” was apprehended at his house by a team comprising personnel from the Dumalag police station, the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.
They were armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Judith D. Orendain-Tonogbanua of the Regional Trial Court in Mambusao, Capiz.
Cops also recovered a homemade .38 revolver and two live ammunition rounds.
Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), said the suspect was tagged in a shooting incident in October 2023 and had several records in the barangay for illegally discharging a firearm.
“This led our police to search his house,” Solis explained.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, praised the police operatives.
“Your output reflects your commitment and dedication towards your duty. This wasn’t a stroke of luck but a true intelligence-driven operation,” General Wanky said.
He also mentioned that the police would intensify their operations against wanted persons in addition to tracking down loose firearms.
The suspect is set to be charged with violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
