BACOLOD City – The head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) was ordered suspended for five days due to light offenses.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr., in an interview yesterday, said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez signed a memorandum on May 3, 2024 suspending Executive Assistant Patrick Lacson.
Ting added the suspension was “effective immediately” upon Lacson’s receipt of the order.
In a text message sent to Lacson yesterday to confirm the receipt of the suspension order, he replied, “Not yet received.”
The city mayor will find someone to temporary assume the post of Lacson once the suspension takes effect, Ting said.
Earlier, the City Legal Office said it would recommend to the city mayor the suspension of Lacson due to “light” offenses.
Ting said Lacson brought a government vehicle, a MABB Cab, to his house and allegedly removed the city’s logo sticker, and issued a memorandum that set a quota of five apprehensions a day to traffic enforcers./PN
