ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized approximately P31 million worth of illegal drugs in 15 days of operations across the region.
From May 1 to 15, different police units confiscated 4,265 grams of shabu valued at P29 million and 2,000 grams of marijuana worth P2.4 million.
PRO-6 data also showed that 160 drug suspects were arrested from 130 antidrug operations.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) recorded the most number of arrests at 57, followed by Iloilo PPO with 29, Iloilo City Police Office (CPO) (28), Bacolod CPO (20), Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) (11), Capiz PPO (six), Aklan PPO (five), Guimaras PPO (three), and Antique PPO (one).
The RPDEU-6, meanwhile, scored the biggest drug haul of 1,849 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P12.5 million.
Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of PRO-6, commended the unit commanders for their commitment in the campaign against illegal drugs and for leading their personnel towards the attainment of these accomplishments.
“These arrests and seizures of illegal drugs reflect your dedication to your sworn duties. Keep the fire burning as we aim to apprehend more individuals involved in the illegal drug trade,” Wanky said.
He added: “Sa ating mga kababayan, ang laban sa ilegal na droga ay laban nating lahat. Malaki ang inyong maitutulong para mapigilan natin ang pagkalat nito. Pwede ninyong lihim na i-report sa inyong pulisya ang mga taong kasama at sumasali sa ilegal na kalakalan.”
Earlier, the region’s top cop said the PRO-6 will be targeting high-value individuals and he ordered the operating units to review their records and monitor suspects’ activities./PN
