ILOILO City – Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Jack Wanky called on police officers to uphold ethical standards following a shooting incident in Bacolod City involving two policemen in a love triangle.
He stressed the importance of adhering to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees and reminded his men of the police officers’ pledge.
“We must set the example and refrain from engaging in immoral acts,” Wanky said.
A police officer in Bacolod City was recently shot dead by a colleague over a woman with whom both had an affair.
Wanky regretted the loss of life but emphasized the need for justice
“This is unfortunate. We are deeply saddened that two officers were involved. However, a life was lost, and justice must be served,” he stressed.
The Bacolod City Police will file a murder case against the suspect.
An independent investigation by the Regional Internal Affairs Service of the PRO-6 is underway, along with administrative proceedings against the suspect.
Wanky also added security has been assigned to the woman due to threats against her.
“We received information that the victim’s family blames her. I directed the Bacolod City police director to ensure her safety,” said Wanky./PN
