MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio has ruled out accepting another Cabinet post under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The Vice President made the remark as she officially left her Department of Education and National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) posts on Friday.
“Hindi na ako magse-serve in another Cabinet post sa under Marcos administration,” Duterte-Carpio said.
The Vice President admitted that she regrets leaving the department with some unfulfilled “dream programs.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I leave the Department of Education. Minahal ko itong trabaho na ito. Mahal ko iyong mga kasama ko sa Department of Education,” Duterte-Carpio said.
“So mayroon talaga akong regrets dahil gusto ko talagang tapusin ‘yung kung ano man iyong deliverables ng Marcos administration,” the Vice President added.
But now that she is out of the Marcos Cabinet, Duterte-Carpio said her office, the Office of the Vice President (OVP), will prioritize underserved areas alongside assistance to teachers nationwide.
“Hinahanap natin iyong mga underserved na areas doon sa iba’t ibang satellite offices natin. Siyempre nandyan pa rin ‘yung para sa kababaihan, para sa kabataan, at para sa LGBT (Lesbian, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender), and senior citizens natin,” she said.
She added: “Ngayon na hindi na hati ang oras ko sa dalawang opisina, iniisip namin na magbibigay kami, iyong hindi ko nagawa sa Department of Education, the legal assistance for teachers, ‘yung ‘Lawyers for Teachers,’” Duterte-Carpio added.
Duterte-Carpio also vowed to continue the existing OVP programs including “Magnegosyo ta Day”, “Libreng Sakay”, “Pagbabago” advocacy campaign, and other OVP programs launched during the time of former Vice President Noli de Castro, particularly the medical and burial assistance./PN
