ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) intensified crackdown on illegal gambling in the region led to the arrest of 239 individuals and the seizure of bet money totaling P71,644.00 in the first 15 days of this month.
From August 1 to August 15, different police units carried out 95 operations across the region, with the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOCPPO) leading in the number of arrest.
NOCPPO caught 132 “illegal gamblers”, or 55.23 percent of the total apprehensions.
The breakdown of arrests by other units is as follows: Aklan PPO (one), Antique PPO (16), Capiz PPO (one), Guimaras PPO (four), Iloilo PPO (25), Iloilo City Police Office (25), and Bacolod City Police Office (35).
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, assured the public that the police will remain vigilant and relentless in their campaign against illegal gambling and other forms of illegal activities in the region./PN
