MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed charges against Shiela Guo, the purported sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of a raided POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) hub in Porac, Pampanga.
Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla told the media on Thursday that the cases against Shiela and Ong were filed before a Pasay court on Tuesday.
Shiela was charged with violation of Article 150 of the Revised Penal Code for Disobedience to Summons issued by the Senate as well as for allegedly using a fake Philippine passport, as recommended by the National Prosecution Service.
Ong, on the other hand, was filed with disobedience to summons issued by the House of Representatives as well as obstruction of justice for harboring, concealing, or facilitating the escape of a criminal offender.
Shiela and Ong were intercepted by authorities in Indonesia last week and brought back to the Philippines to face separate congressional investigations.
Shiela, who is reportedly a Chinese citizen named Zhang Mier, previously divulged that she, Alice Guo, and their supposed brother Wesley Guo left the country on board several boats to meet up with Ong in Malaysia.
Ong, on the other hand, told the House of Representatives on Wednesday night that she is not a business partner of Alice Guo and is not her close friend./PN
