MANILA – Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo has a suspected lung infection, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said.

According to Fajardo, Guo’s “possible lung infection” was discovered when she underwent medical and physical exams conducted by the PNP General Hospital and its forensic group on Monday.

Sa chest X-ray po nakita ‘yung possible ang suspected infection sa kaniyang left lung,” Fajardo told the media following Guo’s transfer from the PNP custodial facility to the Pasig City Jail.

Fajardo added that Guo’s medical exam on September 20 did not indicate any respiratory illness, but it was detected during a test on Monday.

“Bale posibleng nag-develop ‘yun (lung infection) over the weekend. Mayroon siyang kaunting colds at kanina sa ospital nag-uubo-ubo siya nang kaunti,” Fajardo said.

“The doctors deemed it necessary to put that in writing, and it will be now the BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) that will determine what kind of treatment — if there will be any treatment at all — [will be given for] treating the suspected infection,” she added.

BJMP spokesperson Colonel Jayrex Bustinera said while they do confirmatory tests on Guo’s medical condition, she will initially be isolated in a room along with three inmates being treated for tuberculosis.

“Once she is cleared of any respiratory illness, Guo will be transferred to a regular cell, “mixed with the general population,” Bustinera said./PN
