Husband dead, wife hurt after SUV plunges into river

ANTIQUE – A 40-year-old man died while his wife suffered injuries after their sport utility vehicle (SUV) overshot a bridge and fell into a river in Barangay Arobo, Tobias Fornier town on Friday, October 18.

The victims were identified as Sheridan Sansaet and Cookie Sansaet, both residents of the town’s Barangay Villaflor.

According to Captain Charles Richard Casalan, chief of the Tobias Fornier Municipal Police Station, the couple was on their way home from San Jose de Buenavista town when Sheridan momentarily closed his eyes while driving, losing control of the vehicle. The SUV swerved off the road and plunged into the river around 11:45 p.m.

Rescuers were able to retrieve the couple from the submerged vehicle and rushed them to President Diosdado Macapagal District Hospital but Sheridan was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Cookie, meanwhile, was recuperating at the said hospital./PN
