BACOLOD City – Around 30 flower vendors along Alijis-Murcia Road in Barangay Alijis here were relocated after a privately owned cemetery near the area has complained to the City Legal Office (CLO).
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said they transferred the said vendors to the area just across their original posts outside the Bacolod Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 30.
Ting said a clearing operation immediately followed after the management of the cemetery complained that there were several vendors selling outside their fence causing traffic in the area.
The city legal officer meanwhile confirmed that the aforementioned vendors were operating without special permits, adding that “the area where they are doing business has no approval from the City Council.
On Monday, October 28, the City Administrator’s Office requested the City Council for the approval of the proposed designated areas for flower vendors for this year’s observance if Undas.
These include part of the downtown area, Burgos Market and cemetery, and Libertad Market./PN
