One dead, two hurt as top-down tricycle rams streetlight post

ANTIQUE – A late-night accident in Barangay Camancijan, Culasi town left one person dead and two others injured after the top-down tricycle they were riding crashed into a concrete streetlight post.

Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Jason Amar, a resident of Barangay Camancijan, and his two passengers, 18-year-old Willy Mark Magsael from the same barangay, and 24-year-old Keith Abuela, from District 4, Sibalom.

According to the Culasi Municipal Police Station, the tricycle was en route to Barangay Camancijan when Amar reportedly lost control of it, causing the vehicle to veer off and collide with the concrete post around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5.

Abuela succumbed to severe body injuries.

The two others also sustained injuries in the different parts of their bodies and were brought to a nearby hospital.

Police investigation revealed that Amar had allegedly consumed alcoholic drinks prior to the incident. He is currently under the custody of the Culasi Municipal Police Station pending further investigation and possible charges./PN
