MANILA – Some members of the House of Representatives are considering filing a third impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
According to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, the third impeachment complaint will be filed not later than next week but he did not reveal who will file it.
“May mga congressman na kumausap sa akin na mayroon daw silang pinag-iisipang i-file or i-endorse. Kaya on hold kami dito, naghihintay kami…Malalaman natin next week kung itutuloy nila ‘yung complaint na ifa-file nila,” Velasco said.
“I cannot reveal eh. Kasi mayroon kaming agreement na it will remain confidential until they actually endorse or file the complaint,” he added.
The Office of the House Secretary General targets to transmit next week all impeachment complaints filed against Duterte-Carpio to the Office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, for inclusion in the House plenary’s Order of Business.
Two separate impeachment complaints have been filed against Duterte-Carpio earlier this week for alleged misuse of confidential funds.
The filing of the impeachment complaint runs counter to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s earlier remarks discouraging his allies in Congress from supporting the impeachment.
Duterte-Carpio was a subject of impeachment talks ever since the House of Representatives’ committee on good governance and public accountability discovered different issues at the OVP and Department of Education./PN
