ILOILO – Police are investigating a shoplifting incident involving a group of women at a supermarket in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo around noontime on Wednesday, January 15.
Initial reports described one of the suspects as being in her 20s or early 30s while the remaining five women appeared to be between 30 and 50 years old.
Captain Cedric Cruz, chief of the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station (MPS), said a Puregold bagger noticed one of the women discreetly placing an item into her shoulder bag without paying at the cashier.
The suspect quickly fled the scene, boarding a Toyota Hi-Lux pickup. Despite the bagger’s attempt to pursue her, the suspect and her companions managed to escape, Cruz said.
Officers of the Barotac Nuevo MPS were still conducting follow-up operations to identify and locate the suspects./PN
