ILOILO City – Miss Iloilo 2025, Karen Nicole Piccio, is setting her sights on the national stage with confidence and purpose.
During her send-off ceremony yesterday, February 10, Piccio declared she is “90% ready” for the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 competition, emphasizing that while there is always room for improvement, she feels prepared both mentally and physically for the journey ahead.
When asked about the presence of returning beauty queens like Winwyn Marquez in the competition, Piccio responded with optimism rather than intimidation.
“I do understand that people keep asking me if I’m afraid of the comeback queens joining. My answer remains the same – I don’t feel any fear or pressure. I recognize that they are beautiful, intelligent, and well-prepared. However, I believe what sets me apart is my ability to speak from the heart, my ambition, and my unwavering passion for this journey.”
For Piccio, pageantry is more than just about wearing a crown and glamorous gowns — it is about living a life of purpose and being part of a meaningful sisterhood.
“I was asked if I felt any pressure? Not so much. More of excitement,” said Piccio.
A strong advocate for environmental sustainability, Piccio is bringing her platform to the national stage through her advocacy Sustainability on the Utilization of Biospheric Activities (SUBA).
This initiative builds upon her previous campaign, WATERS (Watershed Awareness to Ensure Responsibility and Sustainability), and highlights the importance of protecting and maintaining natural ecosystems, particularly the Iloilo River.
“We all know the beauty of Iloilo River. It is not just for us to admire. We are internationally recognized as an example of what a beautiful and healthy river should be, even in the midst of an urban city.”
Piccio’s journey to Miss Universe Philippines 2025 has been years in the making. She shared that she has put her law school studies on hold to fully dedicate herself to this path, one that she believes aligns more with her passions and sense of fulfillment.
