BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA) has slowed down in accepting applications after it received overwhelming applications for the city’s housing project at Asenso Yuhum Village in Barangay Vista Alegre.
The Asenso Yuhum housing units are under the Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino (4PH) Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
“Nag-slow down ang BHA sa pagbaton sang application kay kadamo na gid. Nine hundred ang forecasted for the four buildings, each building has 64 units for a total of 256,” said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
He added: “Kay basi naga-expect sila [applicants] pag-apply ara dayon… Kinanglan ta padasigon man ang production sang aton housing units.”
Based on the latest record of the BHA, a total of 128 units for the two housing buildings have been turned over to the beneficiaries.
The latest turnover was on March 29. The city government turned over the keys to buyer-beneficiaries of the 64-unit second tower of the Asenso Yuhum Residences.
“This is one program that will greatly benefit the people of Bacolod, a decent and affordable housing, that is being developed into a world-class township,” Mayor Benitez said during the turnover ceremony.
The first batch, also composed of 64 occupants, received their housing units in Building 1 in January this year.
An initial 296 buyer-beneficiaries, approved through the Home Mutual Development (Pag-IBIG) Fund, will occupy the first four buildings.
The third and fourth buildings are scheduled to be turned over by next month, he said.
He added he is currently coordinating with the city’s partners for the project to expedite the production of the units because many residents want to avail themselves of the Yuhum housing.
Through 4PH, the city aimed to construct several buildings to provide safe and secure homes, especially for informal settlers (ISFs) living in high-risk zones or those prone to fire hazards due to overcrowding, substandard materials, and lack of access to basic utilities./PN
