ILOILO – The Iloilo provincial government is set to celebrate the province’s 124th founding anniversary through a weeklong series of events from April 7 to 11.
The “Semana sang Iloilo” festivities will kick off on Monday next week with a foot parade of Capitol employees from Sunburst Park to the Capitol Grounds, followed by a Zumba session and a cultural performance by the Sinamba sa Biray-Paraw group from Leganes.
A flag-raising ceremony and the official opening declaration of “Semana sang Iloilo” will also be held on the same day.
A highlight is the ceremonial switch-on of the Capitol Complex’s newly completed 100KW solar photovoltaic system.
Among the major activities is the Kasadyahan Run 2025, a charity fun run open to the public with 12KM and 4KM categories. Other key events include the Governor’s Award organized by the Public Employment Service Office, Mutya sang Barangay Kapitolyo 2025, Pasidungog 2025 for retirees and service awardees, and the Employees’ Night.
Throughout the week, the Capitol Grounds will host an Agricultural Fair and Exhibit, as well as the MSME Trade Exhibit and Snack Fair, featuring local products and enterprises.
The Provincial Population Office, in partnership with the Central Philippine University College of Law, will launch “alaLAYI: Pag-ubay Legal sa Kabataan,” a program offering free legal education to Ilonggo youth. The initiative includes symposia and orientations on legal rights and mental health awareness.
Meanwhile, the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) Center will conduct several capacity-building activities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including orientations on packaging and labeling, digital marketing, service quality, and basic entrepreneurship.
