BACOLOD City – The city government will conduct today a post-traumatic psychosocial therapy to victims of a tragic vehicular accident during a Good Friday procession.
Three persons died and 17 others were injured after a Toyota Innova allegedly driven by an Indian national identified as Jagpret Shingh hit a tricycle, then a police patrol vehicle securing the procession, a multicab, and those participating in the procession on April 18 in Barangay Alangilan here.
The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) and the City Health Office (CHO) will led the therapy session to help those affected recover from traumatic experiences by addressing emotional, psychological, and social impacts.
The therapy is a combination of counseling, support networks, and coping strategies to restore mental well-being. This will promote healing, resilience, and reintegration into daily life, improving the overall quality of life after traumatic events.
City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said invited to attend in the therapy activity are the victims, who are already at home, family of the victims, and others who were present during the incident.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, meanwhile, assured other victims who are still confined in the hospital that the city government will provide their needs in terms of medical.
For the families of the fatalities, the city government will also provide them assistance.
As of this writing, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) was preparing all necessary documents for the filing of charges against the said Indian national.
He will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide ,physical injury, and damage to property./PN
