AKLAN – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station in Aklan reported smooth travel operations on Black Saturday, April 19, with a significant number of tourists arriving on the island as part of the Holy Week 2025 celebrations.
A total of 4,953 inbound passengers and 6,753 outbound passengers were recorded and assisted by PCG personnel at the Cagban Jetty Port in Malay town, the primary gateway to Boracay Island.
The surge in tourists highlights the island’s continued appeal during the Holy Week, as travelers flocked to Boracay for its scenic beaches and festive atmosphere.
Throughout the Holy Week, the PCG’s Western Visayas stations recorded a total of 9,617 outbound passengers and 9,774 inbound passengers traveling through major ports in the region, with Boracay being one of the most popular destinations.
Nationwide, the PCG monitored 15,883 passengers across various ports on Black Saturday, with Boracay’s Cagban Jetty Port handling a substantial portion of this traffic.
To ensure the safety and security of passengers, a total of 619 frontline personnel were deployed across five Coast Guard Stations. In addition, 98 vessels, including ferries, fishing boats, and 30 motorbancas, underwent thorough inspections to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations.
