BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP) has served almost 18,000 Bacolodnons as of Thursday, May 1, or exactly two years after its implementation in 2023.
This was confirmed yesterday by Mae Cuaycong, BacCHP focal person. She added that at present, around 300,000 have been registered to the program.
“The city is still accepting applications for those who have not yet applied for registration. There are more [residents] applying everyday at Bacolod City Government Center, Bacolod Express Service Office in Ayala Malls Capital Central and at the Government Service Express(GSE) in SM City Mall-Bacolod,” Cuaycong said.
BacCHP, the city’s flagship health program under Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, aims to give preventive and curative healthcare services to qualified Philippine Health Insurance, Inc. (PhilHealth) indigent members from all barangays of this city.
For this year, the city government allocated P137 million for the program. Under the BacCHP ordinance, the city government provides P15,000 for each health card holder and coverage for hospital bills for their dependents.
Meanwhile, in celebration of the health program’s second anniversary, a medical and dental mission was conducted yesterday.
Cuaycong said 250 members availed themselves of the medical check-up and laboratories and 50 more availed themselves of the dental extraction.
The BacCHP also distributed medicines, vitamins, and condoms for family planning./PN
