BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) is expecting full compliance from the public and business establishments as it intensively implemented liquor ban from May 11 to 12.
This prohibition is in accordance with Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution No. 11057, which strictly prohibits the selling, offering and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the two-day ban.
“The liquor ban is a critical component of our security preparations for national and local elections (NLE) 2025. We call on everyone to cooperate and remain responsible citizens to help ensure credible, safe, and peaceful elections throughout the Negros Island Region,” said PRO-NIR director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay.
PRO-NIR, in coordination with local government units and Comelec, has deployed monitoring teams to conduct inspections on establishments to ensure adherence to the ban. Violators may face penalties under existing election laws, including imprisonment and fines.
The regional police force also urged residents, tourists, and business owners to be guided accordingly and to report any violations or suspicious activities through the nearest police station./PN
