ILOILO City – Authorities recovered over half a kilo of suspected shabu worth around P3.57 million and arrested a high-value suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lanag, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, on Saturday night, May 31.
The 45-year-old alias “Bhing,” a resident of the town’s Barangay Daga, was apprehended around 10:10 p.m.
Seized from the suspect were eight knot-tied transparent plastic sachets containing alleged shabu weighing approximately 525 grams.
The successful anti-drug operation was carried out by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6), in coordination with the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit 6.
The suspect is now under the custody of authorities, facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, praised the personnel involved in the buy-bust, describing it as a reflection of the police’s continued aggressive efforts to curb the illegal drug trade.
“This accomplishment reflects our aggressive and relentless campaign against illegal drugs. It is our goal to shield communities from the dangers that these substances bring,” he said.
Wanky added that the police will continue working closely with local communities and partner agencies to track down and arrest those involved in the illegal drug trade./PN
