CAPIZ – The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is urging Capisnons to utilize the national emergency hotline 911 for immediate assistance during emergencies, emphasizing the importance of using police contact numbers responsibly to ensure a prompt five-minute response.
According to Police Captain Merry Chris Dela Cruz, CPPO spokesperson, the activation of the 911 hotline has significantly improved communication and coordination among local police stations, enabling quicker deployment of officers to critical areas.
“Just by dialing 911, help can be dispatched right away. This system helps us respond faster and more efficiently,” Dela Cruz explained.
The initiative forms part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) wider campaign to strengthen police presence in communities and maintain peace and order throughout the province. It also aligns with efforts to not only deter crime but to ensure swift intervention in ongoing incidents, providing Capisnons with a greater sense of safety and security.
The five-minute emergency response policy, instituted by PNP chief General Nicolas Torre III, underscores the agency’s commitment to improving public service and boosting confidence in police responsiveness. Under this directive, all police units are expected to respond to emergencies within five minutes of notification.
To uphold this standard, the PNP has taken disciplinary action against officers who failed to meet the required response time in other parts of the country. In light of this, the CPPO reaffirmed its commitment to delivering timely and efficient law enforcement services, especially during life-threatening and critical situations.
The CPPO also reminds the public to refrain from making prank or non-urgent calls to 911, as these could hamper the ability of first responders to assist those in genuine emergencies.
