MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio continues to command the highest public trust among the country’s top national officials, even as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. recorded a sharp 10-point rise in his own trust rating, based on the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by Stratbase.
Conducted from June 25 to 29 among 1,200 adults nationwide, the SWS poll showed that 61 percent of Filipinos said they have “much trust” in the Vice President—up one percentage point from 60 percent in May.
In contrast, 23 percent expressed little trust in Duterte-Carpio, while 14 percent were undecided.
Duterte remains the most trusted among the four key officials surveyed.
President Marcos, meanwhile, saw his “much trust” score jump from 38 percent in May to 48 percent in June, a substantial gain following months of fluctuating public perception. He received 30 percent little trust, while 21 percent were undecided.
“The significant increase in President Marcos’ trust rating signals a possible renewed public confidence in his administration,” said Stratbase Group President Prof. Victor Andres “Dindo” Manhit. “He must sustain these trust ratings since they are crucial indicators of political stability and governance performance.”
Senate President Francis Escudero also posted a gain, with his trust rating climbing from 47 percent to 55 percent. Speaker Martin Romualdez likewise improved, though he remains at the bottom of the list with only 34 percent saying they have much trust in him, up from 26 percent in May.
Escudero and Romualdez received 23 percent and 34 percent little trust ratings, respectively.
The SWS used a five-point scale in the survey, ranging from “very much” to “very little” trust. The survey has a ±3 percent margin of error./PN
