MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has made it clear that political alliances will not shield anyone from accountability, declaring that those responsible for the hardships endured by Filipinos — whether friend or ally — must answer for their actions.
“Yung dinadaanan na hirap na dinadanas ng ating mga kababayan, they have to be told who is responsible, and somebody has to answer for their suffering,” Marcos said in the latest episode of the “BBM Podcast.”
Pressed on whether individuals found liable could still be considered allies, Marcos was resolute. “Sorry na lang. Hindi na kita kaalyado kung ganyan ang ginagawa mo, ayaw na kitang kaalyado,” he said.
According to the Presidential Communications Office, the podcast’s third episode focused on issues that were not tackled in the President’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA).
During the SONA, Marcos ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to submit a full accounting of flood control projects initiated or completed over the past three years, amid growing suspicion of mismanagement or possible corruption in infrastructure spending.
He also called out utility providers for their unreliable services, taking aim at both power and water distributors who have failed to deliver consistent service.
“Mahiya naman kayo sa inyong kapwa Pilipino. Mahiya naman kayo sa mga kababayan nating naanod o nalubog sa baha. Mahiya naman kayo lalo sa mga anak nating magmamana sa mga utang na ginawa n’yo,” Marcos said during his SONA./PN
