CAPIZ – The Panay Municipal Police Station has reported a series of successful law enforcement operations from January to August this year, contributing to what authorities describe as one of the most peaceful environments in Capiz province.
In an interview with Police Executive Master Sergeant Domingo Acepcion Jr., the municipal executive senior police officer of the Panay police station, he detailed the unit’s accomplishments in maintaining peace and order in the municipality.
Over the eight-month period, police arrested seven wanted persons, including the town’s most wanted. Two suspects were apprehended for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002); one for violating RA 9287 (Anti-Illegal Gambling Law); and another for violating RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Authorities also detained 31 individuals for municipal ordinance violations, particularly those concerning the Fisheries Law, and recorded the voluntary surrender of six firearms.
Acepcion credited the stable peace and order situation to the strong collaboration between the police, the local government, barangay officials, and residents.
“This unity ensures Panay remains one of the most peaceful towns in the province,” he said.
The police have been implementing various community-based programs, including distributing informational pamphlets, holding symposiums, and conducting barangay visits. Among their priority initiatives is strengthening the 911 National Emergency Hotline program, launched by Philippine National Police chief General Nicolas Torre III, which promises a five-minute response time to emergency calls.
Authorities are also addressing persistent concerns, such as the high incidence of road accidents and the threat of illegal drugs. Strategies include intensified public education and awareness campaigns to prevent crime and drug-related activities.
