NEGROS Occidental – The City Government of Bago, under the leadership of Mayor Marina “Mayette” Javellana-Yao, has launched the Project Night Care: Emergency Night Clinic at the Barangay Ma-ao Health Station to provide medical services to emergency patients in upland barangays during night hours.
The clinic, inaugurated on Monday, August 18, operates from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays and caters exclusively to emergency cases. It is equipped to handle Level 1 to Level 4 patients, which include resuscitation, immediate, emergency, urgent, and semi-urgent cases. The facility also assists in transferring critical patients to Bago City Hospital.
Javellana-Yao described the project as part of her administration’s ASENSO BAGO governance framework, but more importantly, as a reflection of the city’s “May Gugma nga Panghimanwa” brand.
“Tonight, we open not just a clinic, but a promise — that even in the late hours of the night, your city government is here for you,” she said. “Through Project Night Care, we are making sure that care and compassion are never out of reach.”
The mayor emphasized that true progress is not measured by infrastructure alone but by ensuring that every Bagonhon feels protected and cared for, even during their most difficult moments.
Currently, the Outpatient Department (OPD) at the Barangay Ma-ao Health Station continues to serve patients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, while birthing services are not yet available at the night clinic.
The mayor also expressed gratitude to health workers led by Dr. Mae Fairlenn Carmel Jocosn and Dr. Elijah Blaise Bimbao, along with partners and volunteers who supported the project.
Councilor Leonilo del Carmen, chair of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Health, hailed the initiative as a major step in ensuring community health, particularly during night hours when access to medical services is often most critical.
“This clinic is not just a facility — it is a testament to our community’s resilience and collective efforts to improve healthcare access while minimizing costs and expenses,” he said.
Also present at the launch were Councilors Robert Javellana, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, Jorge Araneta, and Imelda Precion; City Health Officer Dr. Ferdinand Ramon Mayoga; Nurse Supervisor Ceander Rosquillo; the USLS College of Medicine team led by Dr. Pilar Mabasa; former councilor Jobert Tagobader; and barangay officials./PN
