GUIMARAS – A pastor lost his life after the tricycle he was driving collided with an oncoming truck in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Buenavista town on Friday morning, September 5.
The victim was identified as alias “Regie”, 42, a resident of the town’s Barangay Tinadtaran, and son of the well-known Ilonggo haranista Tay Pirot Petcheller.
According to Police Captain Rene Mercado, chief of the Buenavista Municipal Police Station, the tricycle was traveling from Barangay Sto. Rosario toward Barangay New Poblacion when the victim attempted to overtake another tricycle. In doing so, his vehicle encroached on the opposite lane and rammed into the truck.
Due to the strong impact, Regie was thrown against the bumper of the truck, causing a fatal head injury. He was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the hospital.
The truck driver, identified only as alias “Edwin”, 54, of Barangay Millan, Sibunag town, was taken into police custody and later faced the victim’s family at the Buenavista Municipal Police Station.
